Original Plein Air Watercolor
This one-of-a-kind original watercolor painting, “View from Montelparo,” was created en plein air on location in Montelparo during a summer painting retreat in the beautiful Le Marche countryside.
Painted in the quiet hours of early morning, the scene captures the landscape just as the town was beginning to wake. From the hillside vantage point in Montelparo, the view stretches across rolling fields and patchwork farmland toward the distant Sibillini Mountains. Soft morning light moves gently across the hills, revealing the layered colors and peaceful rhythm of rural Italy.
Working directly from life allowed the subtle atmosphere, light, and expansive landscape to be observed and painted in the moment.
The painting was created using handmade Italian A. Gallo watercolors on Fabriano Artistico 100% cotton watercolor paper, two of Italy’s finest artist materials, chosen for their exceptional color, luminosity, and archival quality.
